Event description

Hurricane Irma continues to intensifyAs at 2pm today, Tuesday 5th September 2017, Hurricane Irma was located at 16.9 North 59.1 West or just about 230miles East of St. Kitts Nevis  Hurricane Irma now has sustained wind speeds of 185mph and has a minimum central pressure of 926mbs  Hurricane Irma is moving in a Westerly direction at 14mph  Hurricane force winds extend out to 60miles from the center  Tropical Storm force winds extend out to 160 miles from the center  Tropical storm force winds are expected later this evening  Gust to Hurricane force winds can be expected over night into Wednesday  6 – 12 inches of rainfall is possible and isolated maximum total of 16 inches
